Cloud computing is a model for providing computing access over network. As defined by many experts in academic and commercial scopes this model is created of certain service characteristics, service models and deployment models. The characteristics of the cloud model are discussed in our True Cloud post.
The origin of the term ‘cloud computing’ is not certain but as suggested by many experts, the name is taken from cloud drawings used to show networks and the Internet in computing diagrams and illustrations.
Cloud computing defines hardware, infrastructure and systems application of the service provided over a computer network, usually the Internet. National Institute of Standards and Technology definition of cloud computing is as following : “Cloud computing is a model for enabling ubiquitous, convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources … that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction.”
